What is the use of ‘Email messages Input’ and how it is different from ‘Mail’?

Both the steps deal with mails, One is used for reading mails while other is used for sending mail.
‘Email messages Input’ step is used to retrieve email messages and their attachments from a mail server using the POP3, IMAP or MBOX standard protocols.
‘Mail’ step is used to send a text or HTML email with optional file attachments
