Can we read .xlsm file . If yes how to read and which steps and plugins are required?

Yes, you can read .xlsm (Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook) files in AutomationEdge.

Use the Microsoft Excel Input step (found under the Input category in Process Studio).

  • Spreadsheet type (engine): In the step configuration under the Files tab, set the Spreadsheet type (engine) dropdown to:

    • Excel 2007 XLSX (Apache POI)

  • File selection:

    • Under File or directory, browse to or enter the path of your .xlsm file.

    • In the Regular expression or file filter, allow .*\.xlsm (by default, the browser filter looks for .xls or .xlsx, so select All Files (.) or type the .xlsm extension manually).

  • Sheets & Fields tabs:

    • Go to the Sheets tab to fetch or specify the target sheet name(s).

    • Go to the Fields tab and click Get fields from header row to populate the schema.

Note on Macros: Microsoft Excel Input reads worksheets, cell values, and evaluated formula results from .xlsm containers. It treats the file strictly as a data source and does not run or trigger embedded VBA macros.
